| Background | Integrin alpha-3/beta-1 (α3β1) is a transmembrane receptor that binds laminin, fibronectin, collagen, epiligrin, thrombospondin, and CSPG4. It mediates cell adhesion, migration, and signaling by serving as a docking site for FAP (seprase) at invadopodia in a collagen-dependent manner, facilitating ECM degradation and promoting invasion. α3β1 also cooperates with LGALS3 to mediate CSPG4-induced endothelial cell migration and participates in tissue morphogenesis and basement membrane organization. |
