| Background | IL6ST (GP130 / Interleukin-6 signal transducer) is a transmembrane receptor subunit that mediates signaling of the IL-6 family cytokines, including IL-6, IL-11, LIF, and OSM. It forms heterodimeric or multimeric receptor complexes, activating JAK/STAT, MAPK, and PI3K/AKT pathways. IL6ST is widely expressed in immune cells, liver, heart, and other tissues, regulating inflammation, hematopoiesis, immune responses, and tissue regeneration. Dysregulation is associated with autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation, and cancer, making it an important therapeutic target in cytokine-mediated disorders. |
