| Background | CD2 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is primarily expressed on T lymphocytes, natural killer cells, and thymocytes. In mice, CD2 interacts with CD48 and promotes immune-cell adhesion, immunological synapse formation, and antigen recognition. CD2 also functions as a costimulatory receptor that regulates T-cell and natural killer cell activation, proliferation, cytokine production, and cytotoxic activity. Mouse CD2 is widely used as a lymphocyte marker and is an important target for immunology, inflammation, transplantation, and therapeutic antibody research. |
