| Background | LRP1 (Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1), also known as CD91, is a large multifunctional endocytic and signaling receptor belonging to the low-density lipoprotein receptor family. It is widely expressed in various tissues and cell types and participates in the binding, internalization, and clearance of numerous ligands, including lipoproteins, proteases, protease–inhibitor complexes, extracellular matrix proteins, and growth factors. Through its extracellular ligand-binding domains and intracellular signaling motifs, LRP1 regulates lipid metabolism, protein clearance, cell migration, inflammation, vascular homeostasis, and blood–brain barrier function. Dysregulation of LRP1 has been associated with cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, fibrosis, and cancer. Recombinant LRP1 protein is suitable for receptor–ligand interaction studies, antibody screening, binding assays, drug-delivery research, and investigations of LRP1-mediated endocytosis and signaling pathways. |
