| Background | DRD4 (Dopamine receptor D4) is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that primarily couples to Gi/o proteins, inhibiting adenylyl cyclase and reducing intracellular cAMP. It is mainly expressed in prefrontal cortex, limbic system, and retina, where it modulates cognition, attention, emotion, and behavioral flexibility.
